Biography & CV
Prior to his tenure in Montréal, Johnson served for three seasons with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, initially as Resident Conductor (2013-2015), and subsequently as Associate Conductor (2015-2016). He has also guest-conducted the Edmonton, Québec, Trois-Rivières, Saskatoon, Regina, Guelph and Thunder Bay symphony orchestras, as well as Symphony Nova Scotia, l’Orchestre du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, and l’Orchestre symphonique de l’Estuaire. Internationally he has conducted the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Staatsorhester Rheinische Philharmonie and members of the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg.

Sept. 17-20 Adam Johnson takes part in a tour of northern Québec with the OSM and the new opera Chaakapesh.

Adam Johnson conducts the inaugural performance of the Symphonie de la Virée featuring musicians from throughout Québec, as part of the OSM's Virée Classique.

Adam Johnson takes part in a historical tour with the OSM for performances of Penderecki's St. Luke Passion at the Lanaudière Festival, then in Krakow, Poland, and finally the legendary Salzburg Festival. The OSM is the first Canadian ensemble to be invited to perform at the Salzburg festival.
June 2018
Adam Johnson has assisted Maestro Kent Nagano in a Beethoven festival featuring all nine of the great master's symphonies in a single week with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. Johnson and Nagano have also been working with Carl Talbot on editing the upcoming release of the OSM's next album featuring the music of John Adams. Adam Johnson makes his debut with the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec (OSQ), reprising the award winning performances with André Sauvé that premiered with the Adam Johnson and the OSM in July of 2017.

Maestro Johnson makes his second return of the season to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra to lead an all-Dvorak program, followed by an educational concert called Wall to Wall Percussion featuring Vern Griffiths. Tickets: EdmontonSymphony.com
January 2018
The New Year begins with Maestro Johnson leading the McGill Symphony Orchestra in a week of rehearsals on Mozart's Jupiter Symphony, Beethoven's First Piano Concerto, and Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite. The month ends with the creation of educational concert performances called Together on the Beat, with Toronto percussion quartet TorQ, and the OSM.

Adam Johnson and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal performed for 80 000 students as part of a broadcast live concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Quebec's CEGEP college system.
